Every writer has one.

The story that lingers quietly in the back of their mind for years. The one that refuses to leave, no matter how many other ideas come and go.

For me, that story became The Seventh Echo.

The funny thing is, a writer doesn’t sit down one morning and decide to write a supernatural suspense novel. For me, this one started with asking one simple question:

What if you went home after a long time away… and discovered that home had been waiting for you all along?

That single thought refused to let me go.

Over time, it grew into Fairmont—a fictional Pennsylvania town inspired by the places and memories of my own childhood. I found myself imagining the abandoned buildings, forgotten railroad tracks, old neighborhoods, and the secrets they might still be keeping.

Then came the characters.

Dan Mercer wasn’t created to be a hero. He was created to be human. Like so many of us, he spent decades believing he had left his past behind. He built a successful career, created a new life, and convinced himself that some chapters were finished forever.

But life doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes the past has unfinished business.

As I wrote, the story surprised me more than once. Characters made decisions I hadn’t planned. Scenes unfolded in ways I never expected. More than a few evenings ended with me staring at the screen thinking, “Well… I didn’t see that coming.”

Those are my favorite moments as a writer, because they remind me that storytelling isn’t just about creating a world—it’s about discovering one.

Over the last several months, many of you have followed along as I’ve shared the “Echo” teaser series, watched the cover reveal, saw the preorder launch, and encouraged me through the final edits. For that, I’m incredibly grateful.

Writing may happen alone, but publishing a book never does.

Every comment, every share, every message, every preorder, and every conversation has helped bring The Seventh Echo to this moment.

On August 18, the story is finally revealed.

I hope you’ll visit Fairmont. I hope you’ll meet Dan, Laurie, Meghan, Jared, and the rest of the people whose lives have occupied my imagination for so long.

Most of all, I hope The Seventh Echo stays with you long after you turn the final page.
